biography

Steven has taught and performed in the Northwest area for over fifteen years. He graduated from Lewis & Clark College majoring in classical guitar performance having studied classical technique with Scott Kritzer and jazz with Dan Balmer. Since then he has been performing, composing, and teaching.

Steven has performed in Rock, Jazz, Latin jazz bands, duos (Joe Sorce-woodwinds and Chien Tan-violin/treble violin) and in concert as a solo guitarist.

“I enjoy the challenge of solo guitar—the technique of the classical material is certainly daunting; and to play jazz solo guitar is particularly a style that involves full concentration—to improvise using a fingerstyle technique is still a very long term project for me.”
